Project: InkTober 2016: Day 1: Fast

Today is Day 1 of InkTober 2016. If you don’t know what Inktober is, it is:

“Every October, artists all over the world take on the InkTober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month.”

Inktober was created by Jake Parker in 2009. For more information, please visit the InkTober site.

This is my first year participating.  I did something similar a while back (I think it was in Spring 2015), where I drew everyday for 30 days, but it was a formal challenge like this one.  I’m going to do my best to complete all 31 days of drawing and to use the official prompt list.  I’m not holding myself to the prompt list, but I am holding myself to the days of drawing.  On the days I work, the drawings will be smaller than the days that I’m not working.  Plus, I’m taking a trip to visit my parents from the 20th-24th so the 20th & 24th should be interesting with all the driving those days.  Luckily, they only live about 2.5-3 hours away depending on traffic and stops.  I should still have enough time.

Anyway, Day 1’s prompt is FAST.  My grandson’s favorite thing right now is trains and trains are at least faster than I am, so my Day 1 drawing is of a train.

This is in my 5.5in x 8.5in sketchbook and I want to make a bigger copy for Freddie, my grandson.  I’m planning to use a trick I learned where I can turn my iPad into a light box and use that to make a bigger version.  I’m planning to color that larger version this evening.  I’ll add an image of that version once it is done to this post.

Update:  Here is the colored version:
